Hi
Sorry to be posting in the wrong topic but it wouldnt allow me to post in the Software part.
I seem to have a problem with mainly Itunes. Our computer is one of your custom built ones from when computer plus was open but you have been fixing and maintaining it ever since. Its roughly 6-7 years old now and has lasted well. It cant cope with the newest games out but its mostly used for browing the net and music from itunes.
It runs well, sometimes can be slow but it does what its supposed to but I encountered a problem when i updated my Itunes to the latest version. The songs i have bought from Itunes are obviously protected and a certain type of file for copyright reasons but this enw update causes the songs bought through Itunes to freeze and almost crash the computer. The song carries on playing but the computer is in-operable until the song finishes.
Im talking to apple at the monet to see if they can resolve it but i didnt know if it would be easier or best to maybe start to upgrade. Would you think that upgrading the processor would help/ solve the problem? would it make the computer generally run faster? Hopefully Apple can solve the problem but if thats not the case.
Thanks

Hi Adam,
Sorry about the closed forums - I had some trouble recently with a nuisance serial poster "Drailia09" who insisted on answering (already answered) posts that were years old and posting miscellaneous rubbish elsewhere. I started by asking nicely to stop, then I started deleting posts and finally closed the forums where he was making a mess.
I have now reopened the forums and moved your post.
Now about your iTunes problem... Strangely enough I had a good customer of mine call me a few days ago with practically the same symtoms after updating to the latest version. Dare we assume there is an issue with the current iTunes version? Possibly.
I am going to find out more over the weekend as she is bringing in her machine on Saturday so I will post any findings here. It may be a bit difficult as she did try to uninstall it and reinstall it. That failed so there's now a half installed, non-functional iTunes on her PC.
Personally I never have liked iTunes - I am a happy Songbird user. (But then again I have never owned an Apple music player)
I would not bother trying to upgrade the processor on a machine this old. Adding more memory (RAM) would probably be a better option.
Best regards,
Julian |

Not a problem. I didnt think it would be a problem posting elsewhere.
It does seem strange that everything else runs fine.
I have tried to read into it on the net and find out if/what solutions there are but i got mixed solutions, some dating back to 2006 so i lost hope trying to make any sense of it seeing as its a recent update.
It does sound like an Apple problem that many seem to be having but i wanted to see if i could solve it another way. So far they have suggested uninstalling and reinstalling and checking the firewall to make sure it isnt blocking it.
So far no luck. Ill let you know if i come across anything.
Thanks

You could try uninstalling then installing a previous verson till they sort this out. This site seems to have pretty much every version http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
* I haven't tested these downloads myself so use at your own risk. |
